I have served as a member of the Lake County Board since 1992, representing District 20, which includes the Buffalo Grove area. As chairman, I continuously strive to uphold Lake County’s key values of fiscal responsibility, exceptional customer service, and leadership—including working with residents, stakeholders, and local and regional partners.

Fiscal responsibility means that we are living within our means. When the recession caused significant declines in revenue, we cut spending - $15 million over two years. Lake County government has a balanced budget and we are financially stable. Lake County is also one of about 38 counties in the country that have AAA bond rating from Standard and Poor’s and Moody's Investors Services. This is the highest possible credit score given to governments. Residents can be proud of the County Board’s solid track record of making sound and prudent financial decisions, and maintaining fiscal integrity. We also continue to focus on our strategic goals, including enhancing economic opportunities, improving transportation, promoting a sustainable environment, and building healthy and resilient communities. Over the last 18 years, I have focused on economic development in many different capacities. I currently serve as the treasurer for Lake County Partners, which is the Lake County Board’s Economic Development Agency. The County Board recognizes that boosting our economy, creating and retaining jobs are more important now than probably ever before. Diversifying our economy by bringing in new businesses and helping our existing businesses grow is absolutely critical to Lake County’s economic vitality.
